For on him the Father, God, has set his seal. (John 6:27)
Children in grades 7 and 8 are eligible to celebrate Confirmation, with the eventual goal of the Diocese of Burlington to make 6th grade the new Confirmation age. Confirmation classes start in the fall, with the Sacrament being received in early May. If you or your child are of confirmation age, please contact our Director of Religious Education, Meghan Cade, for more information ([email protected] or 703-772-7917).
If your child is past confirmation age, or you are an adult, and you would like to recieve the Sacrament, please contact St. John Vianney at 802-864-4166 for information on their RCIA classes. Adults receiving the Sacrament will be confirmed at the Easter Vigil.
Those preparing for Confirmation need:
1) A Sponsor - a Confirmed Catholic who inspires you in your faith
2) A Saint Name - preferably one who has helped you in your life, one whose example you want to follow, or one to whom you have a great devotion (it may take research and prayer to find your Saint)
Confirmation perfects Baptismal grace; it is the sacrament which gives the Holy Spirit in order to root us more deeply in the divine filiation, incorporate us more firmly into Christ, strengthen our bond with the Church, associate us more closely with her mission, and help us bear witness to the Christian faith in words accompanied by deeds.
