Religious Education

What is Religious Education?

Often known as Sunday School or CCD, Religious Education offers programs for children to come learn about their Catholic faith.  Starting with 1st Grade, children attend classes led by knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and practicing Catholic teachers (Catechists) who not only prepare their pupils to receive sacraments but also help them understand the basis of their faith and the importance of God in their lives.  Religious Education fulfills the fundamental need for children to learn the vitality of our faith in a concrete and organized way.

Our Religious Education program includes preparing 2nd Grade students to receive the sacraments of Reconciliation and Communion, and 10th Grade students to receive Confirmation.  Has your child not been baptized? Are they in middle school and still haven't made their First Communion? Do not fear!  We can help you and your child through any prerequisites at your convenience.

Students in our Religious Education program will grow in grace as they enrich their faith, learn to serve one another, and expand their knowledge of God’s enduring love. If you are interested in enrolling your child, whether to receive necessary sacraments or simply to continue their Catholic development, please contact Meghan Cade, our Director of Religious Education at or leave a message for her at the parish office.

Classes typically begin in the fall, shortly after the start of the school year.  They are held at Christ the King School approximately every other Sunday evening from 4:00pm-5:05pm, with breaks during most holiday weekends and school vacations. Please refer to the calendar for specific dates for grades 1-8.  Our Confirmation program for 9th and 10th graders will follow that same basic schedule with certain variations. There will be additional requirements from the Diocese of Burlington that will be announced here soon. All students are required to fill out a registration form and return it to Meghan at 305 Flynn Avenue or via e-mail (or contact her with alternative arrangements).

We are also blessed to have a Parish School.  Many families choose our school as the way in which their children are educated in the Catholic faith.  Please feel free to contact the school at 862-6696 with any questions or to schedule a visit.

If you are interested in becoming a Religious Education Teacher or a classroom assistant, please speak with Meghan. We would be happy to have your gifts and talents to further the education of our children in the faith!
